africa

Today my phone rang.
I had put the ringer on loud just in case.
Sure enough!
It was a freakishly long number and I knew it had to be from..

AFRICA!!!

I couldn't believe it.
Thousands of miles away & I could still talk to him.
Only for a few minutes of course. but I was SOO EXCITED!
He said it was dirty and poor and he was already looking forward to coming back home.
Honestly, I Can't wait! :)

-has great taste in movies.
- is genuinely kind to everyone.
-Knows a lot about everything.
-is very brave

-Looks for ways to help in anyway he can
-is a great friend.
-isn't afraid to be his crazy, quirky self.

heads up

Okay here is the deal.
I'm getting BORED of this blog. It is too normal and quite frankly doesn't excite me Any.
So.. this is a fair warning. My blog is going to be changing a bit.
It's about to become a bit more REAL. If that makes any sense.
I love looking at peoples blog who actually talk about Real life.

How they REALLY feel.
What they REALLY love.
What they REALLY want.

As much as I enjoy the blogs that are all about the Wonderful and fulfilling lives people are living..
I love the REAL ones even more.
The ones where they can admit their life isn't Perfect. & that they have struggles and ups and downs
just like the rest of us.
Not really your thing? No big deal. I will not be offended.

I don't want to feel restricted thinking what I post might offend someone.. Considering this blog is for ME.

These Days

Here are some things I'm accomplishing these days:

-Setting off smoke alarms

-Trying not to be afraid of this wild one. He looks sweet, but believe me.He is vicious!

-enjoying the wonders of BYU-I. yikes. (when I saw this parked in my friends apartment lot, I knew there was a reason I didn't go there.

-Teaching my home bro how to drive like a pro *cough* (like me)

-Looking forward to my next purchase. (Mark will drive, I'll ride)

-Running after the campus shuttle so I can get to class on time. (yes, i was one of those idiots that i usually laugh at... until it was me.)

-Daydreaming of the day when i drive this. wow.

-Sacking out like this, when i should be studying. (woops) :)

-Spending Thursday afternoons with one of my favorite little people on the planet.

Welp there is just a few. What can i say? I'm a busy gal. But don't worry. not too busy to take a photo of myself while waiting in line at the bank.
Just in case the running after the shuttle didn't classify me as a loser already. ;)

homesick.

Every year around this time I get a bit homesick. A bit homesick for my second home: The Pool. I have grown attached to that place over the years. When I was four and it first opened my family seriously went everyday. Every summer since I've spent a LOT of time there. and when i was finally old enough to work there, I was STOKED
The past three summers I have spent most of my days there. Teaching swimming lessons, yelling at kids who don't follow the rules, having deck wars, doing scenarios, playing water polo, attempting tricks off the diving boars, doing trains down the slide.. etc.
But without a doubt my favorite thing about working there is sitting at the top of the slide after we close to the public. We have 30 minutes to play and lucky for us this is about the time the sun is setting.
I remember last summer sitting up there with my tan legs resting on the railing, watching the
summer sun fall out of sight  and honestly asking myself
"How does it get better than this?"
Right There. That's what summer feels like. It's the most beautiful thing and after a stressful, hot day it's finally when you can let your hair down and get a bit crazy. Which brings me to my next favorite thing about the pool: Late night swimming. After we close at ten and manage to get some of the mats pulled, its time for fun. We do plenty of INSANE things that make all the hours spent there worth it.The pool will always be what I think about when I remember my summers at home. I really can't wait to go back.
